Ο Φίνεϊ, ένα ντροπαλό αλλά έξυπνο 13χρονο αγόρι, απάγεται από έναν σαδιστή δολοφόνο και παγιδεύεται σε ένα κλειδωμένο υπόγειο όπου οι κραυγές δεν ακούγονται πουθενά. Όταν ένα αποσυνδεδεμένο τηλέφωνο στον τοίχο αρχίζει να χτυπά, ο Φίνεϊ ανακαλύπτει ότι μπορεί να ακούσει τις φωνές των προηγούμενων θυμάτων του δολοφόνου.
